| Life Safety and Fire Prevention
The Life Safety and Fire Prevention program ensures that building construction and protection features are present to minimize the danger to life and property from fire and similar emergencies. Life safety focuses on egress and additional safeguards necessary to protect occupants and structures. Therefore, the occupancy type, function, and other characteristics of buildings are considered in their design, operation, and maintenance. Employee education, protection, and prevention of loss due to fire are major efforts within this program area.
